Francis X. Pavy, born in Lafayette, Louisiana, in 1954, has lived there his whole life and is a celebrated artist whose work is deeply rooted in Cajun culture and traditions. With a Fine Arts degree in Sculpture from 1976, Pavy began his artistic journey with photography and glasswork before he transitioned to painting as his primary medium in 1985.
Known for blending Southern heritage with innovative techniques, Pavy’s art has been showcased in solo exhibitions across the U.S. and internationally, including France and Switzerland. It has also been featured in notable group exhibitions and is part of prestigious collections, including the New Orleans Museum of Art and private collectors such as Ron Howard and Paul Simon.
Pavy’s style is praised for its luminous color, figurative distortions, and evocative use of patterning, capturing the essence of Louisiana culture. His published works include Francis Pavy: Forty Years, highlighting four decades of artistic excellence. Pavy resides in Lafayette with his wife and two children.
