Face to Face: April 2025
Each day in Lesley Dill’s Brooklyn Heights studio begins and ends with poetry. Her team selects lines from Emily Dickinson’s work to inspire their collaboration on This Private Hallucinatory Moment—a large-scale installation of “electric ladies” crafted from organza-backed copper. Rooted in Dill’s 2023–2024 Smithsonian fellowship, the piece draws from outsider art and 19th-century science, incorporating hand-applied chemical patinas and themes of discovery. The final 13-by-26-foot work will debut at Arthur Roger Gallery in New Orleans in December 2025.
