The Arthur Roger Gallery is pleased to present Masquerade, a mixed-media exhibition by Rob Wynne. The exhibition will be on view at Arthur Roger@434, located at 434 Julia Street, from January 7–March 18, 2023. The gallery will host an opening reception with the artist in attendance, on Saturday, January 7 from 6–8 pm.
Rob Wynne’s third exhibition with the gallery features a collection of abstract works in poured glass, poured glass text, and ghostly white text images. The works reference the ability to grasp visual stimuli without consciously perceiving them. His long-standing fascination with narrative is evident in the beautiful, transportive, and sometimes camp landscapes he creates for language.
Round About, is a dynamic composition of poured and mirrored glass measuring approximately six feet square which enables the viewer to catch glimpses of him/herself inadvertently interacting with the work. As you enjoy the abstract poured glass installations the observer begins to notice that there are butterflies nestled into some of the work. Then on a skinny wall, one solitary glass teardrop drips three feet down the wall.
Rob Wynne received his B.F.A. from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY. He is a recipient of the Pollock Krasner Foundation Grant and has had numerous solo gallery exhibitions, including at Holly Solomon Gallery, New York, NY; Gavlak Gallery, Los Angeles, CA; Locks Gallery, Philadelphia, PA; The Norton Museum of Art, West Palm Beach, FL; and Galerie Mitterrand, Paris, France. His work has been featured in group exhibitions at the P.S. 1 Institute for Contemporary Art, New York, NY; The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, MA; The Long Beach Museum of Art, CA; and the McNay Art Museum, San Antonio, TX. His work is included in the collections of The Whitney Museum of American Art, NY; The Museum of Modern Art, NY; The Philadelphia Museum of Art, PA; Brooklyn Museum, NY; and the Centre Pompidou, Paris.
