Nate Sheaffer is a New Orleans-based neon artist and glass blower whose work merges vibrant neon tubing with salvaged industrial and residential materials, creating bold assemblage pieces that celebrate reuse and reinvention. After earning a degree in German from UNC-Chapel Hill in 1986, Sheaffer launched Neon Impressions, a custom and production neon shop that rapidly expanded to serve clients across the U.S. and Europe. Over the past three decades, his practice has evolved from commercial signage into kinetic sculpture, digital animation, and illuminated fine art. Now at the helm of Big Sexy Neon, Sheaffer creates dynamic works for film, Mardi Gras, and cultural events, while advocating for the preservation and advancement of American neon craftsmanship.
