Maria Porges’ “Lost Language” exhibit presents the artist’s affection for words, love of language, and interest in the information hidden inside words. The artist employs wax along with glass, wood, and text in creating sculptured bottles, which are metaphorical containers for meaning. The form of the bottles is also another kind of hidden language. Three pieces in the exhibit relate to the hidden meaning the artist finds in the treatment of drapery in the history of painting.
