Helen Altman’s paintings, drawings, and sculpture deal with the way we relate to nature. The paintings are done on quilted packing blankets. For the ink jet images on the blankets Altman draws on nature for symbols of permanence. The images in Altman’s drawings are achieved by burning the paper with a small propane torch. In this exhibition her sculptures are life size woven birds en-caged in wire.
