“Crosscurrents” continues Allison Stewart’s exploration into the beauty and order of the natural world as well as the alterations to the landscape resulting from man’s intervention. Trained as a biologist, Stewart is naturally interested in environmental patterns and processes, life cycles, and the interrelationships of living things. In particular, over the past decade Stewart has investigated the complex interplay of disparate forces that have contributed to the disappearance of Louisiana’s Wetlands. It is her personal study of the man-afflicted landscape that continues to inspire her work.
