Linda Ridgway creates poetic bronze wall reliefs, exploring themes of femininity and tradition as well as autobiographical experiences. “a Rose is a Rose, But More” has a delicate linear quality which references the subtle linework and intentionality of drawing. Attracted to the descriptive nature of bronze, Ridgeway captures a fragile, ephemeral quality rarely seen in metal sculpture with elusive sensibility. Crystalizing a singular moment in time, “a Rose is a Rose, But More” recalls a reverence for domesticity and disintegration of memory that many experienced as time stood still in quarantine.
