Artist Statement
As part of his ‘After the Flood’ series, Robert Polidori shot “6328 N. Miro Street” during one of his four trips to New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina. Polidori created ‘After the Flood’ as a tribute and testimony to New Orleans and to the 200,000 people that would never return to their homes. Shot using a large format camera, 160,000 images document the quiet despair of these spaces in painful, unflinching detail. Polidori hopes that these photos will encourage serious discussions about environmental protections and emergency planning and response; 15 years later his concerns only hold greater urgency.
