Artist Statement

Known throughout New Orleans for his iconic cartoons, Bunny Matthews approaches his work with an insight and humor that has made his drawings instantly recognizable. Created as a reflection on time in quarantine, this new series of Louisiana flora and fauna signifies a return to nature and gardening in a time of solitude. Each drawing tells a story, whether it be the ancient and sacred mythology of the crepe myrtle, abnormal legends of the white-tailed buck, or witty explanations of the vengeful nature of pine cones.
