Artist Statement

In my work, I always confront reality. Whether using figuration, abstraction, or a combination of the two, I find it allows me to have freedom, express ideas, and target what is timely.

In the mid ‘80s, I did many paintings and drawings dealing with the AIDS Epidemic. Many artist friends of mine were dying, and I wanted to create awareness, consciousness, and compassion through my art.

Currently, I’m working on a series addressing the Global Pandemic. Using my imagination, I am inventing and creating images of beauty and horror to express this condition.
