For this exhibit Mitchell Gaudet has created “Tablet” pieces, which are a continuation of a body of work that employs a single image projecting out of a glass block. Each “Tablet” is mounted in a steel frame as if an artifact. Each piece is sand-cast, and then hand polished to highlight details and increase the transparency.
Mitchell Gaudet chose to use only cobalt as a color because of its seductiveness, richness and association with healing. Though the “Tablets” are polished they retain a sand residue that provides them with their archaic look and elegant mysterious appearance.
