From December 2nd through December 30th, the Arthur Roger Gallery is presenting “Recall: A Drawing Installation” of 100 individual drawings by Steve Rucker, provocatively commemorating the last 100 years of history.
Steve Rucker’s drawings on paper, separate works designated for each of the last 100 years from 1901-2000, constitute a remarkably stimulating artistic and political commentary. In his installation, Rucker provides hundreds of images related to an incisive continuous text selectively recalling events and occurrences, which the artist deems noteworthy during the last century.
Steve Rucker received his MFA from LSU. Since 1981 he has been on the art faculty at Loyola University. Previously, he was a ceramic instructor at Newcomb College. Steve Rucker has done major installations at the Arthur Roger Gallery, the Contemporary Arts Center in New Orleans, the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and several site-specific fire sculptures.
