Aristides Logothetis

In describing the evolution of his approach to painting Logothetis explains that, “The absurdity of daily experience, my wariness of hierarchies, as well as my general aversion to didactic narrative, have led me to abstraction.”

The image and the surface of Logothetis’ paintings draw the viewer in for a closer examination. Coin sized circles in several of the paintings are built up layer upon layer. Under scrutiny subtle variations in the size, shape and color of the circles become apparent. Sumptuous shades and mutations of color coexist within each circle. The circles are arranged in a pattern in which most of them are connected or bonded. These links create a web, which is at times is dense and at times sparse.
